Ormond CCÉ enjoys success at County Tipp Fleadh Cheoil
What a weekend for Ormond CCÉ at Fleadh Cheoil Thiobraid Árann!
A hugely successful weekend was recorded for Ormond CCÉ at the Tipperary Fleadh Cheoil, with musicians, singers and storytellers delivering a brilliant set of performances across a wide range of competitions.
Across the weekend, Ormond competitors achieved 28 individual prizewinning results across 36 competition categories, with most qualifying for the Munster Fleadh in Lismore this July.
There was great success in the group competitions, in particular:
Under 12 Grúpa Cheoil - first place
Under 12 Céilí Band - second place
Under 15 Grúpa Cheoil - first place
Under 15 Céilí Band - first place
There were also excellent results in duet and trio competitions, showing the real strength of teamwork and shared music-making across the branch.
The success stretched right across traditional music and culture — from fiddle, accordion, flute, whistle, pipes, harp and piano to singing in Irish and English, lilting, whistling, slow airs, accompaniment, storytelling, Gaeilge, composition and more. It was a real showcase of the depth and variety of talent in the Nenagh area.
Beyond the competition results, the weekend reflected something just as important - the strong community behind it all.
Weekly sessions throughout the year have built not just musicianship, but real friendships and a genuine love of playing together. That sense of enjoyment sits right at the heart of the branch.
A sincere word of thanks to Roscrea CCÉ and the Tipperary County Board for running a fantastic and very well-organised Fleadh Cheoil Thiobraid Árann.
Míle buíochas also to Heather and the team in Barry’s, Noel and his team in The Half Door, and Conradh na Gaeilge in Dún Mhuire for generously hosting weekly sessions throughout the year and supporting the branch so well.
Finally, sincere congratulations to all performers, tutors, parents, and volunteers who continue to support Ormond CCÉ throughout the year.
Now the focus turns to the Munster Fleadh in Lismore this July — with plenty of practising and a few sessions along the way!
