New council houses for Nenagh

Tipperary Co Council is to proceed with a new development of five houses at William St in Nenagh.

The council plans to demolish a single-storey shed and front boundary wall, and construct a five-unit social housing development at Micary Court.

The houses are to comprise three terraced, two-storey, two-bedroom dwellings fronting onto William Street; one single-storey, semi-detached, two-bedroom, three-person, sheltered dwelling, and one single-storey, semi-detached, one-bedroom, two-person, sheltered dwelling to the rear of the site.

An access roadway including realignment, associated footpaths, car and bicycle parking is also planned, along with bin-stores, landscaping, foul & storm drainage including attenuation, public lighting and all associated site service connections, site boundary and site development works.

The subject site is located on the left side of William St as one approaches from the Sarsfield St end. It has an area of 0.139ha. Private open space is to be provided by rear gardens throughout, all of which will have side/rear access. Pockets of public open space have also been proposed for the site

Seven car parking spaces are to serve the development, which includes for two wheelchair-accessible car parking spaces. Ducting is to be provided to facilitate EV charging and space provided to allow for EV charging infrastructure for off-curtilage parking spaces.

The council is to enter into connection agreements with Uisce Éireann to provide for service connections to the public water supply and wastewater collection network.

Plans and particulars of the proposal were on public display last February and March. The plan came before the May meeting of Tipperary Co Council for approval. It was proposed by Cllr Séamie Morris and seconded by Cllr JP O’Meara.
