Second Munster title a welcome reward for Howard

Roisin Howard is now in her tenth season playing camogie for Tipperary, and while there have been many bad days in the blue & gold for the Cahir native, Saturday in FBD Semple Stadium was definitely a good one and she couldn’t hide her delight in the aftermath of her sides Munster final victory over Waterford.

“I’m absolutely delighted,” she began.

“I have been playing for Tipp camogie for ten years now and have suffered some heartbreaking defeats, and this is our second Munster final win in that time, so we will enjoy tonight for sure, and maybe a day or two to follow, but then it will be heads down again after that, with the All-Ireland coming up.”

Howard always knew the game would be tough against Waterford as it always is when these two sides meet.

“Waterford are always a dogged team to play, they are just really tough and physical just like we knew they would be in fairness.

“For us obviously, Caoimhe’s goal was key in the second half and was probably the push we needed to go on and win the game. In fairness to her she took her opportunity really well, she created a lot of it herself and it was a great finish from her, which made all the difference in the end luckily for us.”
