All set for St Patrick’s Day parades in North Tipp
The countdown is officially over. The entrants are ready. The shop window displays are turning green. The shamrock is standing to attention for its ‘big day’. That familiar feeling of Irish pride is tangible. It can only mean one thing - St Patrick’s Day is here!
Parades will be taking place across the country including North Tipp. There will be parades taking place in Nenagh, Roscrea, the twin towns of Ballina and Killaloe, Templemore and Thurles. Newport held its well-supported parade last Saturday.
Roscrea, as one of the oldest towns in the country, is proud to host its 46th Annual St Patrick’s Day Parade, and is hoping to make it yet another one to remember. It’s a big undertaking and one that several towns across the country have abandoned – but not Roscrea! A small but dedicated committee continues to keep it alive and well with the support of all those who take part.
This year the committee is very proud to welcome Anne Keevey as guest of honour. A most deserving recipient of a National Inspirational Hero Award, Anne has been at the forefront of caring for the elderly in Roscrea and is the founder of Age Friendly Roscrea.
The parade will assemble at 2.45pm at the old Tesco Car Park (Lourdes Road), proceed down Church Street, up Castle Street and finish at end of Main Street.
The prizegiving will take place immediately after the parade.
