Shoeboxes from Nenagh to war-torn Ukraine

Over 2,770 Christmas Shoeboxes were donated in the Nenagh area sent to Ukraine by Team Hope before Christmas. In a world torn apart by war, it is heartening to think of children opening gifts, which were carefully assembled by kind people who wish them only the best.

Well done to all the people who made this happen. Each box was filled with appropriate gifts in beautifully decorated boxes. Great credit is due to the many teachers who encouraged their students to get involved. Thanks to those who collected boxes and delivered them to the centre, the former Rialto in Banba Square, which was kindly made available by the county council.

A group of volunteers came to the centre, morning and evening, for two weeks in November to check boxes. Others packed checked boxes into cartons. There was great support from local businesses. Items like stationary, sweets and clothing were donated. Bins were made available.

When everything was ready, and a truck was available to collect the cartons more volunteers arrived to load the truck. It is wonderful to think of all the generosity that went into making and delivering a special Christmas gift to so many suffering children.
