Drugs seizure near Birdhill

Gardaí from Nenagh Garda Station responded to a report of a van stopped on the M7 in the Birdhill area, Co. Tipperary on Thursday 12th March 2026.

Enquiries were carried out and a subsequent search of the vehicle lead to the seizure of €280,000 of suspected Cannabis and €20,000 of cash concealed within the vehicle. A small quantity of cocaine was also seized.

All drugs seized will be forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) for analysis.

A male in his 30s was arrested and conveyed to a Garda Station in Co Tipperary. He is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
