Annacarty MMA fither Ryan turns Pro ahead of Omagh bout this weekend

It's a big weekend for Tipperary man Gerard Ryan.

On Saturday afternoon in Omagh, having just turned professional, the MMA fighter takes on the experienced Aaron Broghan in a Featherweight bout as part of the Virtus Fighting Championship.

Ryan, from Annacarty is one of the most decorated amateurs in the country, and he now steps into the professional ranks for the first time. A multiple-time amateur title holder, Ryan makes his pro debut at Virtus 5, returning for his second appearance with the promotion after competing in the Virtus Featherweight Grand Prix. Like his opponent, he brings an explosive wrestling-based style and the confidence of a fighter who’s already proven himself at elite amateur level.

Standing opposite him is Aaron Brogan, who returns to the Virtus cage representing Team Ryano Causeway. A seasoned amateur turned professional, this will be Brogan’s fourth pro outing, and he’s no stranger to the Virtus stage. Known for his relentless, high-pressure wrestling, he’s built a reputation for forcing the pace and dragging opponents into deep waters
