Double World Rowing Gold for record breaker McDonald
Ken McDonald from Moneygall won two gold medals at the World Indoor Rowing Championships on Saturday.
He broke his own world record of 366m which he had set a week earlier in the heats, recording a new World best of 373 metres for the 1-minute timed event.
Ken then went on to win Gold in the 1km event, in a time of 3mins.07sec
He weighed in at 74.8 kilos having dropped seven kilos since Christmas in order to race at lightweight under 75kg. His body fat was measured at 6.3%.
Ken is a Garda instructor at the Garda College, Templemore. He is an ex-international rower with 7 World records and multiple World championships, on and off the water.
