Nenagh Olympic Athletic Club Awards
Nenagh Olympic Athletic Clubs Annual General Meeting and Awards Night was held last Friday night at Andy’s Gastro Bar & Restaurant, Sarsfield Street.
There was a great turnout on the night and among the attendees was Nenagh Olympic’s first chairperson from 1955 Donal Murphy.
He presented the Athlete of the Year award to Laura Frawley, who also won the Best Field Event award. The highlight of Laura’s season was winning the inter-varsity Pentathlon Gold while setting an IUAA record. She is recognised as one of Ireland’s leading multi-event athletes and noted as the University Athlete of the Year. Laura has also earned success in individual events at club and national championship levels, including strong performances in hurdles, high jump and long jump.
Best Track Athlete award went to Ronan Ryan with an Indoor Munster triple gold in the 60m, 200m and Long Jump, Munster U20 Gold 60m, 200m, Scottish U20 indoors bronze 60m/200m, National U19 Silver 60m, 4th U20 National 60m. Outdoors Ronan won Munster 100m/200m Gold, setting a CBP in the 200m (22.17), Bronze Schools 100m and National U19 200m Gold.
Best Endurance Athlete award went to Diarmuid Moloney who won Gold in the Munster Schools and All-Ireland Schools Steeplechase, U19 National Steeplechase Gold, Indoors 1500m bronze, National Senior Bronze Steeplechase.
Most Improved Athlete Award went to Yvandri Kruger for winning Gold in the National Indoors U15 Shot Put (SP). She also won Munster Schools Gold (SP), Munster Silver (SP), Munster Bronze (hammer) and an U15 National Bronze (SP).
Nenagh Olympic would like to congratulate all our athletes who received Certificates at the recent Tipperary Athletic Awards. Team awards received were - Mixed Relay Senior National CC Bronze medallists - Cian Hodgins, Jennifer O’Leary, Aoife Delargy & James Tanner, Jennifer also won an individual National Outdoor U19 800m gold; Novice National Silver medallists - Luke Purcell, Cian Hodgins, James Tanner, Jamie Moloney & Ben Walshe.
Nenagh Olympic athletes who competed with the Tipperary Women's team who won the National Track & Field League with Niamh Madden, Anna Paxman, Emily Davidson, Jennifer O’Leary, Laura Frawley, Hannah Larkin, & Clodagh Donoghue.
Individual Awards received by Nenagh Olympic Athletes: Niamh Madden - National Indoor U18 (SP) Bronze; National Track & Field U18 Discus Bronze; Kevin Finn - National Cross Country U18 Individual Bronze and interprovincial Munster Bronze; Clodagh Donoghue - National Track & Field U19 High Jump Silver; Clara Miniter - National Indoor U19 (SP), National Track & Field U19 Javelin Bronze; Lily Rose Conroy - National Track & Field ‘B’ U15 Long Jump Silver; Michael Hynes - National Cross Country U13 interprovincial Munster Silver.
