St Vincent de Paul, Nenagh, says thanks
We in the home visitation conference of Saint Vincent de Paul, Nenagh are very grateful for the donations received from our recent Christmas appeal and throughout the year.
Thank you to the schools and workplaces who held fundraising events, those who donated money in Vincent’s shop and via the blue envelopes distributed through the clergy in local churches. This year we received a record number of applications for assistance and with your donations we were able to help many families in need in the area. For this we are truly grateful.
Thanks also to our wonderful team of volunteers who give so willing of their time to help those in need.
How we help
For some people, home is where worries feel heaviest. It can take just one small problem to tip someone into crisis and poverty. A little help at the right time can stop a domino effect leading to a family experiencing prolonged hardship. When someone contacts SVP, a volunteer will phone to discuss your application. In many cases two trained volunteers will carry out a home visit. Volunteers then report back to the local conference weekly meeting. A decision is then made on what financial support is needed and what assistance we are able to provide.
Interested in volunteering?
We are looking to recruit new volunteers. This may involve two to three hours per week. This work is very rewarding. If you are interested in finding out more, we invite you to an open evening on Monday, February 9, from 7-8pm in the Pastoral Centre, Church Road, Nenagh. Alternatively, you can leave your name and number in our post-box, SVP, Loreto House, Kenyon St, and a member will call you to discuss.
