What do you do when your treasured housekeeper of many years, the person who has fed and clothed you, takes care of you and all your needs and watches over you for all that time, suddenly has a falling out with your sister who also lives with you, and quits? Who is going to look after you? Who will take care of you now and make sure you have your trousers on when you are supposed to? Well, this is a dilemma facing the Rev Arthur Humphries, a gentle mild mannered and absent-minded man. What do you do?
You advertise, that’s what!
Unfortunately the wording of thatadvertisement is critically important and it pays to make sure you ask the right questions and include all the important details, otherwise you might draw the interest of people you don’t want to be looking at you!
Poor Rev. Humphrey wakes up one day to find the national media and a horde of lonely women suddenly find him the most interesting man on the planet!
Add into the mix a famous TV actor who just happens to be his nephew and is also on the run from the same media, not to mention a certain pop singer with romantic ideas of her own and you get the perfect recipe for hilarious mayhem and pandemonium.
This year’s production stars many long-time members of Rathcabbin Players, including Hubert Hogan Humphrey), Pat Kennedy (Bishop) Marguerite Walsh (Josephine), Fiona
Kennedy (Winifred), Darina Kelly (Harriette), Maria Maher (Pixie) and Fiona Maher O’Brien (Mrs Carter). This year they also have a couple of newcomers making their debut with RathcabbinPlayers and they are Mel Kennedy(Photographer and voice off stage) and Paul Cahalan (Peter).
