Money laundering investigation

Gardaí have launched a money laundering investigation following the discovery of a large sum of cash in Nenagh last week.

Members of the Divisional Drugs Unit conducted a search on Friday last and found around €27,000 in cash. No arrests were made, but inquiries are ongoing and a file is being prepared for the Director of Prosecutions.

Also last Friday, the Divisional Drugs Unit carried out two searches in Roscrea. Approximately €2,500 worth of suspected cannabis was discovered along with a sum of cash in one search. The other yielded suspected cocaine and cannabis valued at €600, and another sum of cash.

Gardaí are seeking witness information over damage caused to the front wall of a property at Carrig Hill, Roscrea, which is believed to have occurred around 7.30pm last Saturday.

A number of suspects were disturbed in the course of attempting to steal green diesel from a property at Tullamoylan, Dolla, on Tuesday of last week. Gardaí are urging property owners to be mindful of these types of thefts.

There have also been further thefts of catalytic converters from vehicles in recent days, with two reported in Toomevara. Gardaí are warning about criminals on the lookout for easy targets.
