Speeding at Latteragh

Gardaí are to be asked to monitor speeding where road realignment works are taking place on the R498 between Nenagh and Thurles at Latteragh.

At last week’s meeting of Tipperary Co Council, Cathaoirleach Cllr John Carroll welcomed that construction of the long-awaited new road at Latteragh is now underway. However, he observed that some motorists are failing to adhere to the temporary 50kmph speed limit that has been put in place for the duration of the works.

Cllr Carroll said there is adequate signage at the location. “It is not acceptable for people to be doing excessive speed there,” he said, noting the history of accidents at Latteragh.

Director of Services Liam Brett said the council would engage with gardaí on the matter.
