Nenagh Warriors off to flying start in 2026

Nenagh Warriors Basketball Club are enjoying an excellent start to 2026, with strong performances across all age groups and exciting developments both on and off the court as the club prepares for its tenth anniversary next year.

Senior Men

The standout result of the week came on Thursday night in Nenagh College, where the Warriors Senior Men recorded a superb 67–59 victory over North Munster League Division 1 leaders Limerick Lions.

In a thrilling contest played in front of a strong home crowd, Nenagh showed great determination and composure to finish strongly and claim a hugely important win.

It was a rollercoaster encounter from start to finish, with both sides trading leads and momentum, but the Warriors produced a strong final quarter to pull clear and secure their third league victory in a row.

The result cements their place in the top 4 of the Division 1 standings and keeps them firmly in the title conversation.

Under 12

There was more good news for the club at underage level, with the U12 Girls starting their 2026 campaign with a 25–16 away win over St. Colm’s in the North Munster League.

The girls delivered an excellent team performance to secure the win at the final buzzer and are now in the middle of a busy run of fixtures.

They return to action on Monday night in Nenagh College when they face Morning Star in the North Munster Cup.

Under 14

The U14 Boys also got back to winning ways after the Christmas break with a strong away victory over Ennis Rockets in Ennis.

It was a positive result in their first game back and a great platform for the second half of the season.

Meanwhile, the U14 Girls were involved in one of the games of the season so far, edging a thrilling 33–32 away win over St. Colm’s.

In a game that ebbed and flowed throughout, both sides traded scores and momentum swings, keeping supporters on tenterhooks right to the final buzzer.

In the end, the Warriors took the narrowest of victories in a contest that highlighted the quality of coaching and competitiveness at this level.

Development

Off the court, Nenagh Warriors continue to invest strongly in player development.

The club were delighted to welcome renowned coach Xabi Arriaga to Nenagh College recently for a special coaching clinic.

The session proved hugely popular with players, with large numbers taking part and benefiting from the experience.

The club is already looking forward to welcoming Xabi back to Nenagh again soon.

Anniversary

Looking ahead, 2026 will be a landmark year for Nenagh Warriors Basketball Club as the club celebrates ten years since its establishment in 2016.

To mark the occasion, a series of special events and initiatives are planned, beginning with the launch of a new club crest.
