Teen charged over Nenagh car incidents

An 18-year-old male from Limerick has been arrested and charged over a number of incidents involving cars in the Nenagh area last Christmas.

The suspect was one of a number of males in a vehicle intercepted by gardaí on the M7 near Roscrea last Sunday. It is understood that the occupants fled from the vehicle but one was caught by the gardaí.

He was taken to Nenagh Garda Station for questioning in relation to a number of crimes in Laois and Tipperary. The Tipperary incidents include thefts from cars and interfering with vehicles in Nenagh on December 27 and 28 last, as well as separate incidents in Ballina.

The teenager has since been charged with 20 offences and is due before court.

Elsewhere, gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a burglary at Casey’s Cross, Nenagh, last Sunday. A vehicle was stolen from the scene but was later recovered.

Witness information is also sought over the theft of a dirt bike from a property at Rosslands Roscrea, on Thursday last. This incident is believed to have occurred between 3 and 3.30am.

Meanwhile, gardaí are warning people to be vigilant of catalytic converter thefts from vehicles following incidents at the Abbey Court Hotel and Coille Bheithe, Nenagh, last weekend.
