Nenagh ice swimmer

Congratulations to Nenagh woman Yvonne Kelly, who had a podium finish in the National Ice Swimming Championships in Clontarf in December.

This annual event organised by the International Ice Swimming Association involves swimmers competing in very cold water. The water temperature on the day was six degrees celsuis. A lot of swimmers suffer from extreme cold once the race is over; they need to get warm as fast as possible.

This was Yvonne’s first national event having gotten serious about cold water swimming in the last year. She trains in Youghalarra and Garrykennedy mostly, swimming every day throughout the winter.
