By Shane Brophy

Stephen Rosney is through to the last 16 of 2025 WDF World Championship which are taking place at the iconic Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green, Surrey, England.

The Nenagh man followed up his first round win over Scotland’s Jim McEwan 3-0 by taking out 14th seed Thomas Junghans from Switzerland 3-0 on Wednesday evening.

After taking advantage of a Junghans slip up to claim the first set, Rosney didn’t look back and check outs of 86, 61 and 72 saw him take the second set, reeling off eight legs on the spin to seal his spot in the last 16 against Ben Robb of New Zealand.

“I feel really comfortable up there,” he said.

“I felt really confident coming into the game.

“There is a lot more in the tank than I am showing here. I am confident coming into this tournament.”

Rosney will have to find that level of improvement against Ben Robb who has recorded the two highest averages of the tournament so far with this match part of the evening session this Thursday at approximately 7.20pm.
