Dogs seized after sheep injured

Four dogs were seized last week after gardaí responded to separate reports of dogs worrying sheep.

One incident occurred in the Roscrea area last Thursday, resulting in two dogs being seized by Offaly Co Council. Another incident was reported at Ballinderry, where a sheep was injured. It is understood that two dogs were found in a nearby field and were seized by Tipperary Co Council’s dog warden.

Gardaí also responded to a burglary at a business premises in Newport last Wednesday. The incident occurred around 5am. A number of items were stolen. The scene was examined by gardaí, who are using CCTV footage as part of their investigation into the matter.

The Divisional Drugs Unit located small quantities of suspected cannabis in two searches in Nenagh, one on Saturday last, in which around €300 of suspected cannabis was found, the other on Friday, which yielded €400 of suspected cannabis. Files are being prepared for the DPP.

Meanwhile, online fraud and text scams continue to be reported across the district. Gardaí are advising people to be wary of these kinds of crime.
