Nenagh dance for motor neurone disease
It's that time of year again when Mary Lynch holds her popular social dance in Nenagh in aid of the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association.
This will be Mary’s sixth staging of the dance at the Scouts Hall. Organising the first one to coincide with her 70th birthday, she thought the event would just be a “once-off”.
But it proved so popular that people have kept asking her to hold the dance again each year, and Mary is only too happy to oblige.
Music at this year’s event will be provided by Glen Flynn.
There will be a raffle with some fabulous spot prizes to be won, as well as refreshments for all. Mary took the opportunity to once again thank the local business community for generously providing raffle prizes, and also everyone volunteering their time to bake for the night.
Mary lost her mother to motor neurone disease in January 1993. She has in recent years fundraised tens of thousands of euros for the IMNDA, a national charity that provides essential support services to people living with the incurable disease, their families and caregivers, including home visits from specialist nurses, the provision of specialised equipment, as well as emotional and financial support. With more people than ever now in need of its services, 85% of IMNDA income comes from fundraising events such as those organised by Mary in Nenagh.
