Tipp players selected on Irish panels for Hurling/Camogie Shinty Series
The Irish camogie and hurling squads for the International Rules Series, taking place next Saturday in Inverness, have been confirmed.
The two Irish teams will take on their Scottish shinty counterparts at Bught Park with the Camogie-Shinty match throwing-in at 12 noon, and the Hurling-Shinty game getting underway at 2:10pm.
The men’s team will be joint managed by Terence McNaughton and Michael Kavanagh and captained by Limerick’s Dan Morrissey. Meanwhile, the women’s team will be managed by Ger Manley and captained by Cork’s Saoirse McCarthy.
The double-header will be broadcast live on the BBC Alba YouTube channel and available at gaa.ie/shinty.
Uachtarán CLG Jarlath Burns said: “Well done to all of the players who have made the travelling panels and who will represent their codes, their clubs, counties and of course Ireland in the 2025 series on Saturday.
“After resurrecting the cross-code game with matches in Newry and Ennis in the last two years, it is fitting that our hurlers should travel to Bught Park in Inverness and I wish everyone well as relations and friendships between our organisations are rekindled.”
Uachtarán an Chumainn Camógaíochta, Brian Molloy said: “I would like to congratulate all of the players selected to represent Ireland in this year’s Camogie–Shinty International Rules Series. It is a wonderful honour to wear the green jersey and to showcase their talent on the international stage. This double-header with the hurling–shinty match is another important step forward for equality in Gaelic games, ensuring our Camogie players share the same stage and spotlight as their hurling counterparts. I would like to thank the Camanachd Association for their continued partnership and the Europlan Group for their valued support of the Irish Camogie team.”
