The Watch Centre Junior ‘B’ Hurling Championship: Congratulations to Silvermines who claimed the Dan Gleeson Cup for the second year running after they got the better of Knockshegowna, after extra time, last Sunday in Toomevara 0-26 to 1-21.
Eddie Ryan was the victorious Silvermines captain.
Junior ‘C’ Hurling Championship: The quarter finals took place last Sunday. In Shalee, Ballinahinch had a hard-earned two-point victory over Lorrha, winning 0-19 to 2-11 to secure their place in the final.
Meanwhile in Borrisoleigh, Borris-Ileigh recorded a 1-16 to 0-11 win over Shannon Rovers. After a slow start, with Rovers leading early from frees, Borris settled into rhythm through scores from Thomas Fahy, Fintan Holland, and Alvis Danko. Leading 9–7 at half time, Borris remained composed throughout the second half, with Fahy accurate from placed balls and the defence standing firm. A late goal from a Michael Hyland delivery sealed the win as Borris ran out deserving victors.
The semi-finals will take place this Sunday, 12th October. Silvermines will host Ballinahinch at 12 noon in Dolla whilst Ballina will host Borris-Ileigh with a 2.00pm throw-in time.
Under 21 'A' Hurling Championship: The championship consists of six teams divided into two groups of three, with the top two teams from each group progressing to the semi-finals.
Group 1 features Ballina, Borris-Ileigh, and Nenagh Éire Óg. Round 1 will take place on Sunday, 19th October, with Ballina hosting Borris-Ileigh in Ballina at 12 noon, while Nenagh Éire Óg have a bye.
Round 2 is scheduled for Sunday, 26th October, and Round 3 for Sunday, 2nd November, but both fixtures’ dates are dependent on Nenagh Éire Óg’s progress in the County Senior and Junior ‘A’ Hurling Championships.
Group 2 includes Roscrea, Silvermines, and Toomevara. Round 1 takes place on Sunday, 19th October, with Roscrea hosting Toomevara in Roscrea at 12 noon, while Silvermines have a bye. Round 2 is fixed for Sunday, 26th October, when Silvermines host Roscrea in Dolla at 12 noon, though this date may move to Sunday, 9th November depending on Silvermines’ progress in the County Junior ‘B’ Hurling Championship. Round 3 will be played on Sunday, 2nd November, with Toomevara at home to Silvermines at 12 noon, and Roscrea have a bye.
The semi-finals are scheduled for Sunday, 30th November, with the North Final set for Sunday, 7th December.
Under 21 'B' Hurling Championship: The championship consists of nine teams divided into three groups of three. The top two teams in each group will progress to the knockout stages. Two of the three group winners will advance directly to the semi-finals, while the remaining group winner will enter the quarter finals.
Group 1 includes Borrisokane, Burgess, and Moneygall/Clonakenny. Round 1 takes place on Sunday, 19th October, with Burgess facing Moneygall/Clonakenny in Kilcolman at 12 noon, while Borrisokane have a bye. Round 2 is fixed for Sunday, 2nd November, when the winner of Round 1 will meet Borrisokane, venue to be confirmed.
Group 2 features Ballinahinch/Templederry, Kiladangan, and Kilruane MacDonaghs. Round 1 will be played on Sunday, 19th October, with Kilruane MacDonaghs hosting Ballinahinch/Templederry in Cloughjordan at 12 noon, while Kiladangan have a bye. Round 2 takes place on Sunday, 2nd November, when the winner of Round 1 will meet Kiladangan, venue to be confirmed.
Group 3 is made up of Lorrha Rovers, Newport, and Portroe. Round 1 is scheduled for Sunday, 19th October, with Newport hosting Lorrha Rovers in Newport at 12 noon, while Portroe have a bye. Round 2 will be played on Sunday, 2nd November, when the winner of Round 1 faces Portroe, venue to be confirmed.
The U21B Hurling Championship will then continue with Round 3 on Sunday, 9th November at 12 noon, followed by the quarter finals on Sunday, 16th November, the semi-finals on Sunday, 23rd November, and the final on Sunday, 30th November.
County Action: Best of luck to the North sides in County Championship action this weekend.
Congratulations to Moneygall/Clonakenny who claimed the County U19 'B' Hurling title last Sunday after victory over Clonoulty/Rossmore.
Hard luck to Newport who lost out to Durlas Og last Saturday in the County 'A' Hurling Final.
Under 15: Best of luck to Toomevara and Burgess in County semi-final action this Saturday. Toomevara face Cashel King Cormacs in the 'A' at 2.30pm in Templederry, while Burgess take on Lattin-Cullen in Kilcommon at 12 noon.
