Duharra no match for ruthless champions Clonoulty

CAMOGIE: FBD Insurance Tipperary Senior Championship Quarter Final

Clonoulty/Rossmore 5-15

Burgess/Duharra 0-5

It was all one-way traffic in Clonoulty on Saturday as Clonoulty/Rossmore, the reigning champions, cruised into the semi-finals of the Tipperary Senior Camogie Championship at the expense of Burgess/Duharra.

The home side opened the scoring with a point after two minutes and struck for their first goal ten minutes later.

Burgess responded with a couple of points, and there was little between the sides when Jenny Grace converted a free in the 21st minute to make it 1-2 to 0-2. Clonoulty, however, started to find scores more easily and added further points before Kaitlin O’Halloran pointed for Burgess in the 27th minute to leave it 1-5 to 0-3.

Just before the break, Burgess were dealt a major blow when Clonoulty raised their second green flag, quickly following it with two more points to lead 2-7 to 0-3 at half-time.

The second half was all Clonoulty. They struck for a 1-2 within the opening five minutes to put the game beyond doubt, before adding a second goal after eight minutes.

Burgess/Duharra had no answer to the relentless attacking play, and a fifth goal arrived in the 47th minute.

Duharra lost Ciara McKeogh to a red card as Amy & Tara Kennedy added points in the closing stages, but they were of little consequence as the home side cruised to a comprehensive victory.
