Dromineer extension plan refused

Tipperary Co Council has refused an application by Lough Derg Yacht Club to extend the duration of planning permission for its ongoing development in Dromineer.

The club is carrying out a development that involves improvements to boat mooring facilities, a new walkway/pier edge, and a part floating docking system for mooring a RNLI lifeboat to facilitate rapid launching in emergencies.

In recent correspondence with the council, the club stated that all of the works have been completed except for the inner basin. Among the reasons cited for the delay in completing the development – which was granted permission in July 2020 – was the disruption to construction activity during the pandemic. A four-year extension of permission was sought.

The council refused the application, stating that another Appropriate Assessment (AA) would be required in order to assess of the potential adverse effects of the development.
