Ronan Whelan added to his Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes success on the Aidan O'Brien-trained Precise two days earlier when winning the eight-furlong maiden on the champion trainer’s Port Of Spain at Punchestown on Tuesday.
The strong 5/4 favourite scored a shade cosily in beating the Michael O'Callaghan-trained Back Straight by half a length.
Another Irish Champions Festival winner Ben Coen recorded a half a length victory of his own as he took the handicap over the same distance on Andy Oliver’s Sun Soldier. The three-year-old, an 8/1 chance, led over a furlong out to beat Jessica Harrington’s Dark Viper.
Joey Sheridan rode his first winner on just his second ride for Joseph O'Brien when partnering the 9/2 chance Snapretend to take the nine-furlong median auction maiden. Owned and bred by John Farrell, the three-year-old was well on top as he scored by two lengths from Joe Murphy’s Lady Lilac, the pair all of five and a half lengths clear of Johnny Feane’s joint-favourite Playin Cool.
Ben Coen rode back-to-back winners to bring his season’s tally to 48 winners at Naas on Thursday.
He won the five-furlong nursery handicap on the Johnny Murtagh-trained top-weight Bay Of Supremacy. Owned in partnership by the Kildare Racing Syndicate and the Kilmaichael Racing Syndicate, the 11/2 chance made all the running to beat Natalia Lupini’s Final Melody by three-parts of a length.
The Danny McLoughlin-trained Iamimmaculate, owned and bred by Ringfort Stud, completed the jockey’s double in the eight-furlong claiming maiden. A very well-supported 9/2 chance, he got up inside the final 100 yards to beat Donnacha O'Brien’s favourite Ipanema Beach by a length and a quarter.
Both horses were claimed subsequently, with the winner joining Ger O’Leary and the runner-up going to James McAuley.
Kildare apprentice Jack Cleary earlier won the five-furlong maiden on the Aidan O'Brien’s Controlled. Leading after halfway, the 100/30 chance raced clear to win by three lengths from the Donnacha O'Brien-trained Aegina.
The champion trainer completed a double as the Ronan Whelan-ridden Port Ferdinand won the concluding seven-furlong maiden. A 9/4 chance, he got on top close to the finish to beat Michael O'Callaghan’s Bamako Beach by a neck.
Wayne Hassett gave Joseph O'Brien a winner when partnering Synners Kid to take the eight-furlong nursery handicap. Owned by the trainer’s sister Ana, the 17/2 chance came from off the pace and led inside the final 100 yards to beat the Matthew Smith-trained Ella’s Gold by a length and a half.
The Keepthehighballslow Syndicate-owned Tir Og followed up on last month’s Sligo success when winning the second of the two and a quarter-mile handicap hurdles at Downpatrick on Friday.
Again ridden by Calum Hogan for Nenagh trainer Eoin Seymour, the 4/1 chance made all the running and was well on top from the final hurdle to beat the Dermot McLoughlin-trained favourite Centaq by five lengths.
Mortlestown trainer Evanna McCutcheon saddled her first winner since February of last year when the three-year-old Send Harry took the seven-furlong handicap at Dundalk on Friday.
The Golden Brown Syndicate-owned 4/1 chance raced up with the pace under Patrick McGettigan and led over a furlong out to beat the Pat Flynn-trained Imperial Dream by three-parts of a length.
Kevin Coleman sent out his first winner of the weekend when the seven-year-old Benavente landed the 12-furlong apprentice handicap. A third winner of the week for Cork apprentice Julian Pietropaolo, the 14/1 chance was another to lead over a furlong out to beat Jack Davison’s Ozark Daze by a length and three-parts.
The final winner of the night was the Aidan O'Brien-trained Edward Hamilton which made a successful debut in the 10-furlong maiden. A strong 11/10 favourite for Wayne Lordan, he led early in the race and again over a furlong out to score by a length and a half from Jessica Harrington’s Ben Lawers.
Aidan O'Brien and Wayne Lordan landed the opening two races at Gowran Park on Saturday. 5/6 favourite Ice Dancer beat Jessica Harrington’s Noble Honour by half a length to take the eight-furlong two-year-old fillies’ maiden while 6/4 favourite Christmas Day won the two-year-old maiden over the same distance by the same margin when getting the better of Joseph O'Brien’s Hedjet.
Ben Coen brought his tally for the week to four winners when partnering the Danny McLoughlin-trained 12/1 chance Syzygy to land the second division of the eight-furlong handicap. She led inside the final furlong to beat Johnny Murtagh’s 7/2 favourite Pandion Power by a length.
Joe Murphy and Gary Carroll combined to win the nine-furlong maiden with the 4/1 favourite Amplitude. It was all too easy for the three-year-old as he led early in the straight and raced clear inside the final furlong to win by six lengths from the Donnacha O'Brien-trained Direct Approach.
Five-year-old Akecheta gave Kevin Coleman his second winner in less than 24 hours when scoring a battling success in the concluding seven-furlong conditions’ race. Owned and bred by Louis and Joan Walsh, the well-supported Shane Foley-ridden 9/4 chance held Stephen Thorne’s odds-on favourite Gleneagle Bay by three-parts of a length.
Four-year-old Ade Boy scored a runaway success in the concluding bumper at Navan on Saturday for trainer Andy Slattery and Adam Ryan. The Vincent Claffey-owned 11/8 favourite came from a little off the pace and led over a furlong out to beat Pat Flynn’s Highlander Addict by an easy eleven lengths.
