A multi-culture event for Nenagh

Nenagh Arts Centre is getting set to host an evening of multi-cultural cuisine, poetry, music, song and dance, as part of Culture Night on Friday September 19.

It’s all part of an initiative by the We Act campaign which has teamed up with The Arts Council and local authorities for the fourth year running for a very special We Act at Culture Night programme.

The evening at Nenagh Arts Centre in Banba Square features ‘Night Moves’, a series of performances featuring local multi-cultural poetry, music, song and dance by The Nenagh Players, a celebration of international cuisine with flavours from around the globe, both getting underway from 7pm, and a ‘Silent Disco’ with DJ Jerry for teenagers from 8-10pm.

Claire McGowan, We Act Campaign Manager, says: “The We Act campaign is delighted to be shining a light on the work of Nenagh Arts Centre and the wider community sector, as part of the large, vibrant, feel-good national event that is Culture Night.

“The We Act campaign is about breaking down barriers and increasing understanding between the public and the organisations at work in their communities. That sense of community offered by charities plays a key part in our culture in Ireland and what better way to celebrate that than on Culture Night?

“Coming together for We Act at Culture Night, charities and community groups around the country will not only be highlighting the rich and varied arts and creativity in their local towns and cities, but they’ll also be giving audiences a tangible insight into their work supporting the local community and demonstrating the impact that they have.

“From charities opening doors to historic buildings, to service-users showcasing their talents as part of a poetry night, to youth groups sharing their music sounds, there’s something for everyone.”

Activities get underway in the Nenagh Arts Centre on Culture Night, Friday September 19, from 7-10pm.
