‘Forceps and Firearms’
SHS hosted a talk on Monday night, September 1, on Irish convicts transported to New South Wales in the early 19th century.
A large crowd attended to hear Damian John Gleeson speak on this interesting and informative subject.
SHS wish to thank Damian for giving us his time. His talk was based on his new book, which is now available for sale: ‘Irish Bigamy: New Insights into Convicts, New South Wales’.
The next talk hosted by SHS will be held in the Eagles Nest on Friday, September 19. Margaret Kennedy, BA, MA in Local History, BEd, will speak on the subject of 'Forceps and Firearms - The Life and Times of Nurse Bridget Rohan, Barnagore'.
Talk will take place at 8pm and all are welcome.
