Clonoulty win West derby
CAMOGIE: FBD Insurance Tipperary Senior Championship Group 2 Round 4
Knockavilla-D Kickhams 0-10
Clonoulty/Rossmore 0-18
Holders Clonoulty/Rossmore maintained their strong run of form in group 1 of the County Senior Camogie Championship with an eight point win over Knockavilla-Donaskeigh Kickhams in Dundrum on Saturday evening.
The match was played in very tough conditions, as a strong wind making life difficult for both teams.
Clonoulty adapted better and went in at half-time leading 0-10 to 0-4. Knockavilla worked tirelessly and showed great commitment, but scores came more freely for Clonoulty, with Casey & Cora Hennessy and Cait Devane all on target.
For Kickhams, the ever-reliable Eimear Heffernan was their main scoring threat, contributing seven in total, six from placed balls, while Caoimhe McCarthy added a point from play. Their forwards, however, found it hard to make headway against a very solid Clonoulty/Rossmore defence.
For the county champions Kate Ferncombe also stood out with an excellent display, ensuring Clonoulty closed out a well-deserved victory.
