Misneach Choir’s Charity Single
Misneach Choir, a community choir based in Nenagh and Collie Hogan, a local musician, will be releasing a charity single on August 29 in aid of C-Saw Tipperary. They will also be hosting a launch for their single at 7.30pm in the Nenagh Arts Centre on the same day.
“We are a community choir of thirteen women and one gentleman,” explained Tanya DeVito McMahon, who along with Yvonne Kelly and Louise Hogan, is one of three directors of the choir who have decided to release a single for charity.
“The single is in aid of C-Saw Tipperary, C-Saw stands for Community Suicide Awareness Workers, it’s a mental health and suicide awareness charity,” she explained.
COLLABORATION
In releasing this single, Misneach choir decided to collaborate with local musician, Collie Hogan.
“Collie’s vocal range is amazing, he’s a lovely guy and he’s an amazing singer. I knew he would just enrich the song,” explained Tanya.
“All of us are singing it, there’s no lead vocal on this; there’s nobody taking the lead. We tried to make sure that everyone in the choir had a line, or a part in the song,” she explained.
“We are launching our single on August 29 in the Nenagh Arts Centre at half 7pm. It’s a free event and there’s light refreshments.
Along with the launch of their single, the choir will also be performing on the night in the Nenagh Arts Centre.
“Fran Curry from Tippfm will be MC, Father Lorcan is going to speak and there will be a small talk about C-Saw.
“We will be performing three songs,” explained Tanya.
“On the night of the launch we will also have buckets for people to donate to C-Saw, there are also QR codes on those buckets” she continued.
NAME OF THE SINGLE
“We will be announcing the name of the song on Tipp Fm on August 29, we will be talking to Fran,” explained Tanya.
“At 12 o’ clock the song will go live on the C-Saw website, it will be available for download and there will be QR codes on the website for people to donate,” continued Tanya, reiterating that the aim of the single is to raise money and awareness for C-Saw Tipperary.
Along with recording this single for charity, the choir also recorded a music video to be released alongside their single.
“We have shot a video with Gary Scully, the video will go up on the website as well,” explained Tanya.
“We have had anonymous donations from people to help with the recording. C-Saw funded half the recording, and we self-funded the other half ourselves. All the choir chipped in money to get it done and with the anonymous donation we were able to do it,” she continued.
AWARENESS AND FUNDS
The aim of this single is to raise awareness and funds for C-saw Tipperary.
“People need to know there is somewhere for you to go if you are feeling suicidal, there is help there,” said Tanya, who is a member of the Nenagh branch of C-saw Tipperary, which meets in the Pastoral centre in Nenagh.
“We are in Nenagh, we meet every second and fourth Thursday of the month from half 6 to half 8pm.
“I’m involved with C-Saw and so is one of the other ladies in the choir, we are C-Saw volunteers,” she explained.
SUPPORTING THE CHOIR
The choir are looking forward to their launch night on August 29 in the Nenagh Arts Centre and are hoping members of the public will support them in their endeavour.
“People can follow us on Instagram, Tiktok and Facebook,” said Tanya.
“People can support us by sharing our posts and by coming along on the night. “It’s a free event, it’s not ticketed so we advise people to come early,” said Tanya.
