OHS outing to Nenagh Military Barracks

As part of Heritage Week and in keeping with its theme of “Exploring our Foundations”, the next Ormond Historical Society outing is to the Military Barracks at Summerhill Nenagh.

It takes place on Wednesday 20th August and participants should meet outside the barracks gate for a 7.30 pm start. John Flannery and Michael Reynolds will trace the history of the barracks from its foundation in the early 1800s and the role it has played in the lives of Nenagh people.

This is a particularly significant outing in view of the ongoing discussions on the future of the site. Participants should note that the buildings may only be viewed from a safe distance due to safety concerns.

All are invited to join us on the evening of August 20th at 7.30 pm.
