Tipp GAA opt not to cash in on All-Ireland Final appearance
By Shane Brophy
Reaching an All-Ireland Final is a massively exciting time for everyone, from the players, mentors, administrators to supporters, but it is also comes with a big expense.
Usually, when a county reaches the showpiece of the hurling or Gaelic football season, fundraisers are organised left right and centre to help cover the extra costs of a team getting to an All-Ireland Final, such as suits, overnight stay in Dublin, homecoming, team holiday etc….
However, Tipperary GAA aren’t going down that road. The quick turnaround to the final is one reason, but also becausse of the successful Win a House Draw which ran for the latter part of 2024 to April 2025, the county board aren’t going to put out the hand again in terms of organising such things as golf classics or corporate breakfast & lunches, to benefit from the feelgood factor within the county.
However, there are still a number of existing fundraisers for supporters or businesses to contribute via.
Firstly, there is a membership of the Tipperary Supporters Club (www.tippsupportersclub.ie) which is now almost forty years in existence, and for €40, you can play a part in the preparation of the senior hurling team directly, and for each championship game, be in with a chance of winning match tickets, with ten pairs of tickets up for grabs for the All-Ireland Final which will be drawn for next Monday night.
Just last May, Tipperary GAA launched a weekly 50/50 Draw, which has been a massive success so far, with sums of in excess of €1500 per week going to one lucky winner.
Then, there is the long serving Tipperary GAA Clubs Draw, of which the 2025/2026 draw was launched recently, and supporters can purchase their €100 tickets online, from which €30 stays with the nominated club, with the remainder going to coaching and games development in the county.
Details of both draws are on the Tipperary GAA website, tipperary.gaa.ie or via the new Tipperary GAA app.
