Denis Hogan and Joey Sheridan landed the nine-furlong maiden at Ballinrobe on Monday with Autumn Twist. Sent off 16/1, the Katie and Brian Castle-owned gelding prevailed by half-a-length.
Donnacha O'Brien and Gavin Ryan won the opening five-furlong fillies maiden at Naas on Wednesday with Havana Anna. Sent off the 4/11 favourite, the Gaynor Bloodstock LLC-owned filly scored easily by six-lengths from Michael O'Callaghan’s Dawn Romance.
The two-year-old Composing was the first of Aidan O'Brien’s weekend winners as she landed the seven-furlong fillies’ maiden at the Curragh on Friday. Sent off a 7/2 chance, she all under Wayne Lordan to win by three-quarters-of-a-length.
Aidan O'Brien and Ryan Moore won the opening seven-furlong maiden at the Curragh on Saturday with Dorset. Sent off the 4/9 favourite, he made virtually all the running to win by one-and-a-half lengths.
O'Brien and Moore doubled up in the following six-furlong Group 2 race as Beautify landed odds of 2/1. She got the better of Ger Lyons’ odds-on favourite by a comfortable two lengths.
Whirl completed a treble for O'Brien and Moore when landing the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes. Sent off a 13/8 chance, the Epsom Oaks runner-up battled gamely to see off Andrew Balding’s English raider Kalpana by one-and-a-quarter lengths.
Ben Coen rode Daamberdiplomat to win the six-furlong handicap. Trained by Johnny Murtagh, the 14/1 chance scored by half-a-length for owners Whyte Hickey Rafter Kilkenny Syndicate.
Seamie Heffernan was also amongst the winners, partnering 12/1 chance Charasson to land the concluding six-furlong maiden. Owned by Ballyhimikin Stud, the John Feane-trained filly won by three-and-a-quarter lengths.
Lambourn became the 20th horse to complete the Epsom/Irish Derby double with a battling success in the weekend highlight at the Curragh on Sunday.
The sixth colt O’Brien has trained to win both races, he ultimately held his own stable companion Serious Contender and Gavin Ryan to score by three-parts of a length at odds of 8/13 favourite, a 17th win in the race for the Ballydoyle maestro.
Earlier on the nine-race programme, David Marnane trained Slieve Binnian to win the one-mile handicap. Ridden by Luke McAteer, the 7/1 chance stayed on best to score by three-quarters-of-a-length for owner Paul Rooney.
Seamie Heffernan rode 12/1 chance Lot Of Joy to win the concluding two-mile handicap.
Trained by Willie Mullins, the Over The Sticks Syndicate owned mare stayed on best to win by one-and-a-quarter lengths.
