Fourth Medieval Conference in Lorrha

Our fourth Medieval Conference takes place on Saturday, July 19, at the Friar's Tavern, Lorrha, E45 V651. Registration is at 9.30 am. We have a great line-up of speakers.

Br Colman O Clabaigh OSB will talk is about ‘Devoted People: Religion and Society in Medieval Lorrha’. Dr Tracy Collins’ lecture is titled ‘Women religious in County Tipperary and environs: An archaeological perspective’. Dr Niamh Wycherley’s talk is titled, ‘The Irish church in the 9th and 10th centuries: power, patronage and Vikings’. Timothy O’Neill will speak on ‘Tipperary Manuscripts Ancient and Modern - some practical aspects of production’. Laura Fitzarchery BA, MA, will have a talk titled, ‘En vogue: Fashionable Irish women from the 15th to the 17th century’.

The conference will conclude with a Walk & Talk on the historical aspects of Lorrha Monastic Village. Refreshments and dinner are included in the day's conference. The conference will start at 9.30am and end at 4.30pm. Admission: €35
