Junior 'A' Hurling League

Toomevara claimed a dramatic win over Roscrea in last Wednesday’s clash, with late scores proving decisive in a closely fought Group 2 contest.

Mikie Delaney’s early goal set the tone for a dominant opening quarter, with Toome racing into a 1-5 to 0-1 lead. Roscrea steadied themselves before the break, with Liam Seacy accurate from placed balls, but Toomevara still led 1-9 to 0-6 at half-time.

Shane Nolan kept the scoreboard ticking in the second half from frees, while Mikey Brislane chipped in with two points to keep Roscrea at bay. A dramatic late twist saw Jason Gilmartin’s long-range free deflect to the net to level the game at 1-17 apiece.

However, substitute David O'Brien made a key impact, winning a free for Nolan to convert before Nolan sealing the win with a late point from play.

The final round of games in Group 2 take place this Friday, 16th May at 7.30pm with Roscrea hosting Kilruane MacDonaghs and Toomevara hosting Borris-Ileigh. A victory for Toomevara will secure top spot in the group and a place in the Final. If Borris-Ileigh and Kilruane are victorious then the top place in the group will be determined by score difference.

Round 4 of Group 1 will take place in the coming days with Silvermines hosting Kiladangan on Thursday 15th May at 7.30pm in Dolla whilst the next day (Friday, 16th) Newport host neighbours Ballinahinch at 7.30pm.
