Roscrea Heritage Society – The Black Mills Sessions
Huge thanks to Séamus Moloughney and Pat Byrne, who kick-started the first of our Black Mills Sessions 2025 on Friday week last.
They both entertained the audience throughout the night with fabulous renditions of folk songs and stories. It was great to once again hear music in the mill and the night was thoroughly enjoyed by all!
The society would also like to thank the OPW for facilitating the event and to Eileen for all her help. Last but not least, huge thanks to all who attended on the night; your support is greatly appreciated! The society is delighted to announce a full lineup of artists who will perform in the Black Mills this year. Sessions will take place on the last Friday of every month (April -November) with an extra session in August to coincide with National Heritage Week. As seating is limited, tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets will go on sale for each event on the first Monday of the month at 8pm via Eventbrite.
Save the date! Join Mairéad Cashen - Slevin on Friday, May 30, for what promises to be a fantastic evening of folk song, country and everything in between! Tickets will go on sale on Monday, May 5.
The line-up for sessions this year is as follows: June 27 – Johnny Keegan, Charly Ford and Liam Wright; July 25 - Eddie Simmons and Dayna Quinlan; August 16 - Dinny Quirke and friends (National Heritage Week); August 29 - Martin and Bríd Delaney; September 26- Ben Collins; October 31 - Carmel Minogue; November 28 - Tommy McDonald and Jimmy Quinlan.
