Memorial walk in aid of Milford
Smith O’Brien GAA & Camogie Club extend a sincere thanks to everyone who came out and took part in the Family Fun Walk in memory of their beloved Liam Goose Walsh on a beautiful sunny Saturday, April 26. It meant so much to see the community come together to remember Liam in such a special way. The club will share the total sum raised for Milford Hospice once everything is counted up - every cent is going to a cause close to our hearts. Smith O’Brien GAA & Camogie club is proud to announce that the new stand will now be named in Liam’s honour, a small way to keep his memory alive in a place he loved and supported so well.
It was fantastic to welcome the Clare Celtic Challenge team to Smith O’Brien’s on Saturday - they brought great energy and really added to the day. And of course, the star attraction (aside from the walkers!) was Anne Reddan’s renowned chocolate biscuit cake. Huge congratulations to our two winners, Liam O’Brien and Joan Bowles, who both nailed the weight! From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who helped organise the day and all who took part. Liam would have loved it - what a wonderful community we have! Special thanks to the ladies who provided food and refreshments for everyone after the walk, and to all who contributed such delightful sandwiches, cakes and pastries.
Before heading off for the first organised walk on the new Killaloe Bypass, Liam’s mother Bernie addressed the walkers, and expressed the gratitude of the entire Walsh family to their Smith O’Brien GAA family, and to the Killaloe-Ballina community who have been a constant support to them over the past year and throughout Liam’s illness. She thanked the assembled walkers, who came from Clare, North Tipperary, Limerick, and further afield to support a wonderful Milford Hospice team and remember the great Liam ‘Goose’ Walsh.
