Secondary students in their final year should now apply for the grant.

SUSI grant applications open

SUSI, the national grant awarding authority, is now open for new student grant applications for academic year 2025/'26.

Students are advised to apply early at www.susi.ie, as a high number of applications are expected over the coming months.

Eleanor Murphy, SUSI’s Communications and Customer Service Manager advised: “SUSI is now accepting applications for student funding for academic year 2025/26. A number of changes have been made to the Student Grant Scheme so if you’re planning on attending further or higher education in the next academic year, go to www.susi.ie and check out our Eligibility Indicator. This is a quick and easy way to see if you might be eligible for funding.”

She continued: “As announced in Budget 2025, the maintenance grant income thresholds for all eligible PLC, undergraduate and postgraduate students have increased by 15%. The income threshold for the Special Rate of maintenance grant has also increased to €27,400.

The income thresholds for the full-time undergraduate Student Contribution grants have increased by 15% and the income thresholds for the Part-Time Undergraduate Fee Contribution and the Postgraduate Fee Contribution have increased to €64,315.

The amount a student can now earn outside term time has also increased from €7,925 to €8,424.
