Charleville 0-5 Nenagh AFC
Nenagh AFC picked up three vital points in their quest to avoid relegation from the Limerick District League Premier League when they beat bottom side Charleville on Saturday evening.
The Tipperary side could not have picked a better occasion to find their goalscoring feet, running in five goals without reply at the Cork venue.
In recent games, despite losing, Nenagh created enough chances to have avoided defeat but goal shyness was their downfall but that all changed on Saturday.
Nenagh took the lead after twenty minutes when Ryan Gilmartin’s perfectly floated free kick was headed home by Kieran Barr to give them a half time advantage.
The lead was doubled two minutes after the restart; Bryan McLoughney beat two defenders and squared the ball to Cillian Scully for a tap in.
With Charleville reeling Nenagh tacked on another a minute later when a superb finish by Kieran O’Brien found the bottom corner.
With the contest over a surging run by James Hanly into the box resulted in a penalty which Ryan Gilmartin converted.
Gilmartin was to the fore again with the goal of the game two minutes later, curling the ball into the top corner from thirty yards out to wrap up a good evening for his side.
