Sunday date for Slevin bow at World Darts Championship

Darts fans in Tipperary will be glued to their television sets this Sunday when Borrisokane’s Dylan Slevin (right) makes his debut at the PDC World Darts Championships.

The 20-year-old will take on Germany’s world ranked number 58 Florian Hempel in the first match of the evening session at the iconic Alexandra Palace in London, at approximately 7.15pm, in their round 1 clash.

Should world number 88 Slevin be successful, he will take on world number 15 Dimitri Van den Bergh from Belgium in the second round in the evening session on Friday, 22nd December.

Speaking in a feature interview in last weeks Christmas supplement in the Nenagh Guardian, Dylan said it is a dream come through to make the World Championships.

“As a young darts player you dream, you watch it at Christmas and you say, ‘I wish I was there.’ And to now be there, to be in the Ally Pally playing with the best in the world, it’s a massive achievement in my career,” he said.

The tournament’s starts this Friday with world number one Michael Smith beginning his title defence against Dutchman Kevin Doets or Stowe Buntz.
