Dylan Slevin

Darter Slevin makes TV debut

Borrisokane’s Dylan Slevin took another step in his meteoric rise in the professional darts ranks last week by taking part in his first televised event.

The withdrawal of Belgian Danny Noppert saw Slevin called up to compete in the PDC Players Championship finals in Maidenhead in England. The 21-year-old had originally missed out on qualifying by one spot on the Players Championship Order of Merit.

So, on Friday evening, shortly after 7.00pm, Dylan Slevin made his first entrance walk along side his opponent Matt Campbell, for their first round clash which was shown on ITV and Premier Sports.

Campbell is 57th in the PDC order of merit to Slevin’s 87’s so the Borrisokane man had it all to do and performed well before being edged out by six legs to five.

Slevin’s focus now shifts to his first appearance at the World Championships at the Alexandra Palace in London which gets underway on Friday, 15th December and runs through to the final on January 3rd 2024, and Dylan has learned of his first round opponent who is Florian Hempel from Germany, with the winner to play 15th seed Dimitri Van den Bergh from Belgium in the second round.

The schedule of play for the 2023/24 Paddy Power World Darts Championship will be confirmed in due course.
