Nenagh finding form despite Tuohy Cup exit

Tuohy Cup

Mungret Regional 1-1 Nenagh AFC (Mungret won on pens)

Nenagh AFC crashed out of the Premier League’s Tuohy Cup on Thursday when they lost on a penalty shootout after the sides finished 1-1 after ninety minutes.

Nenagh showed great character to force the game to spot kicks. They trailed Mungret thanks to Cian McNicholas’ first half goal and it looked like it would be enough to win the tie. However, sustained late pressure from the Tipperary side was rewarded with virtually the last kick of the game when Kieran Barr equalised.

Nenagh’s efforts proved futile as Mungret kept their nerve to progress in the shoot-out.

Nenagh AFC 2-1 Charleville

Nenagh AFC recovered well from their midweek cup defeat to take three vital points in their league game with Charleville on Sunday morning.

In a real relegation six pointer, Nenagh took the spoils to leapfrog the Cork side out of the relegation drop zone.

Matt O'Gorman put Nenagh in front and Saeed Ryan doubled the advantage before the break. Charleville pulled one back after the restart through Colin Quaid but could find no way through a resolute Nenagh defence for an equaliser.
