Community Games National Finals

Well done to all the athletes from Tipperary who gave it their all last weekend at the National Community Games Track & Field finals in SETU Carlow.

Newport has two new National Champions in Clodagh Donohoe in the U16 Girls High Jump and the Boys U12 Relay team of JJ Roche, Ben Kelly, Matthew Power, Matthew Mellerick, Shay Coleman and David Gaffrey struck gold. The boys showed great teamwork throughout the whole day and were justly rewarded.

Clodagh Donohoe put in an impressive performance to become U16 High Jump Champion for the second year in a row.

Kenneth Blower put in an incredible performance to win a brilliant silver medal in the Boys U16 200m. Kenneth has only been running for about a year now and his progress has been incredible to watch.

Boherlahan-Dualla were crowned Under 14 camogie champions for the third year in a row. They met Glenmore-Tullogher-Rosbercon from Kilkenny in the semi-final on Saturday and won that convincingly 5-10 to 0-6. They went on to take on Galway's Portumna in the All-Ireland Final on Sunday. The Tipperary girls proved to be a much stronger team with talent and determination all over the pitch and won 5-21 to 0-10.

A very special mention to three girls on the panel who played in all three finals, Abbie Horgan, Neasa Dwan and Sophie Moynihan.
