Third time is a charm for Borrisokane Tennis Club
It was a beautiful evening for Borrisokane Tennis Clubs Opening Ceremony which took place on Saturday last.
The ribbon was cut, and the Club officially opened by Borrisokane Town Mayor Darragh McKenna. Also in attendance were Tim Conway, Secretary of The Midland League Tennis Association, Councillor Michael O'Meara, Borrisokane Tennis Club Committee members and guests.
The courts at Ballyhaden have received a makeover, with new lines painted and a new net installed which was very kindly donated to the Club by Pat Hough of Hough Racquet Sports in Nenagh.
A bench was also very generously presented to the Tennis Club by Security in Shredding Ltd. Ballyartella.
To celebrate the event, committee members and guests enjoyed playing a few games together on the courts. The club now looks forward to welcoming new members and will be open for sign up in the coming days.
The Tennis Club will also be hosting a Free Open Day on Saturday 17th June, and all are invited to come along and try out tennis with coaching sessions and activities for all ages. Racquets and balls will be provided on the day.
This is the third reincarnation of Borrisokane Tennis Club. The first was launched in 1932.
The club remained active for almost a decade before its second version was launched in 1971 when new club was launched with one-court built by the Borrisokane Development Association, behind what was known as Brereton’s Hall, across the street from today’s O’Brien’s Service Station.
