Ninety to the dozen in Templemore!
There was a great turnout in the library on Friday morning last as a dozen of our nonagenarians turned up for a cup of tea, a chat and a chance to take their group photo.
Organised by Templemore Library as part of the 2023 Bealtaine Festival, the event provided a great opportunity for the oldest people in our community to meet up and reminisce about the old days. Fr Conor and Fr John were both on hand to bless them while the library staff laid on a lovely array of treats. The music was provided by the students from Our Lady’s, thanks to Caroline Johnston (fiddle), James Grey (guitar), Carol Noonan, April Glasheen, Sinead Towey (all concertina) Julie Grey (mandolin) and Carra Kennedy (tin whistle). Eimear Hennessy played solo on the tin whistle while Lucy Barton from Errill sang beautifully.
There was a special birthday cake too for John Collier, who turned 91 on the day. Well done to all the staff at Templemore Library, who organised such a special event, and to the students from Our Lady’s, who brought great sounds of joy to the occasion.
Congratulations to all the nonagenarians in our parish and may you have many more days of good health and happiness.
