Duharra edged out late by Cashel
Cashel King Cormacs 1-13
Burgess/Duharra 1-12
Burgess/Duharra suffered their first defeat in the County Senior Camogie Championship following a slender defeat to Cashel King Cormacs in Cashel on Saturday evening.
A tight game throughout with never more than a few points in it at any time both sides exchanged early points to leave the half time score deadlocked at six points apiece.
Jenny Grace had a fantastic game for the visitors displaying super work-rate and setting the pace. Ciardha Maher had a very strong performance also while Caoimhe Maher finished with an impressive 1-4.
The second half continued in a similar vein with the score 0-9 points each after 43 minutes when Caoimhe Maher struck for a goal to put Burgess/Duharra into a three-point lead.
With 50 minutes on the clock the sides were level again 1-10 to 1-10 thanks to a Cashel goal from Caoimhe Perdue. Two points in succession from Cashel gave them a two-point advantage with two minutes remaining in normal time.
A Ciardha Maher point in the 63rd point reduced Cashel’s lead and when the final whistle sounded it was Cashel that were celebrating a narrow victory which moves them top of the table.
