The committee members of Nenagh Darkness Into Light Nenagh have been communicating via Zoomcall for the last number of weeks in preparation for this year's Darkness Into Light event.
Darkness Into Light is the main fundraising event for Pieta House, who provide vital services for those in suicidal destress or engaging in self harm. The organisation has seen a steady increase in people contacting them in recent months with an increase in children and teenagers reaching out for help.
There are many contributing factors to this problem. With the current pandemic restrictions in place there has been a rise in domestic violence cases and the pressures and challenges that people face can lead to personal crisis as the fast pace of life that we now find ourselves in can get on top of any one of us.
However, help is here and Pieta House provide 24/7 services for those who might need to reach out for help.
How can you help ?
This year Darkness Into Light is going socially distanced.
You can join Pieta House and the thousands of supporters for a special Darkness Into Light Sunrise and give the gift of hope to those impacted by suicide and self harm.
This year's event will be a virtual event so we won’t be gathering and walking as a group as we have done in previous years but instead we are encouraging people to register on darknessintolight.ie
You can then decide how you want to do your 5k. You can do a walk, a run or a cycle.
You can even do a swim or just capture a special moment at sunrise and post it to your social media from 4.15am on Saturday, May 8th.
This year’s event is being proudly promoted by local celebrities Tom Bán and Bubba Shakesphere. Make sure not to miss their upcoming social media videos and follow them as they take part in this year's event.
It is vitally important that we support this extremely good organisation so that they can continue to provide the vital services which help thousands of people each year.
