A lecturer from Toomevara and his former student have put together a short film for the Angelus which is due to be aired on RTÉ 1 Television at 6pm on Friday next week for the first time and the first one of its kind to be set in a cattle mart.

James Treacy of James Treacy Photography, Scarriff, Co Clare and his former lecturer in Limerick College of Further Education in film production Martin Ryan have put together a one-minute and fifteen-second video slot set in Kilmallock Mart in Co Limerick over the last six weeks

James approached GVM Kilmallock Mart in early January where he had been taking photos for newspapers in the mart for the last year of livestock for sale and he got the go ahead from the Deputy Manager Denis Kirby and then from GVM CEO PJ Buckley.

They presented the video to RTÉ and after some editing the duo then signed the contracts for a five-year licence with RTÉ.

James added: “As soon as the pandemic is over I’m looking forward to doing video and photographic work for weddings and this video will be on display on my website for potential clients to view.” He added that his training in LCFE and experience in photographing marts should stand to him in the future.

Martin Ryan is a Graduate of Limerick Institute of Technology and holds qualifications in Video and Film Production, and teaches this module in the night time courses in Limerick College of Further Education; he also works in the Media Department at LCFE. James Treacy is a past student of Limerick Institute of Technology and Limerick College of Further Education in Photography and Videography.
