Pop-up art gallery opening in Nenagh

Four local artists will be showcasing their work at a new pop-up art gallery that is opening in Nenagh this Thursday.
Solicitor Stephen McNamara has gifted a premises at 41 Pearse St to the artists to open a pop-up art gallery. Mr McNamara, who recently purchased the building, has very generously offered his support to the artists both as a means of promoting art and also to breathe life back into a premises that has been vacant for a number of years.
Artists Josephine Geaney, Philip Ryan, Mary Pickering and Judy Hamilton will open the temporary shop this Thursday, November 19th at 11am. The studio will be open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11am to 5.30pm until Christmas.
There is a large selection of original paintings and prints for sale by the four artists. Deposits will also be welcome if people want to put aside an item for Christmas. We really want to encourage people to ‘Pop In’ and browse as a way of familiarising themselves with original artworks, and prices for prints start as low as €10 - so there is something to suit a variety of budgets.
Nenagh based artist Josephine Geaney graduated from Limerick School of Art and Design in 2008 and since then has exhibited her work nationally and internationally in many solo and group shows.  Josephine is also the recipient of many awards and residencies for fine art painting and her work is represented in many private and corporate collections such as the Office of the Revenue Commissioners, University of Limerick, the Law Society of Ireland, the Hunt Museum, Department of Defence and Tipperary County Council. Josephine’s main discipline is painting although she is also a printmaker (mono and silkscreen) and has work currently on display at the Limerick Printmakers open submission exhibition at the Lime Tree Theatre, Limerick, and the Joan Clancy Gallery, Waterford. Josephine’s work can be viewed at www.josephinegeaneyartist.com.
Judy Hamilton is a graduate of the National College of Art and Design, Dublin. Judy furthered her study in fine art at the Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology.
She is now based between Dublin and Dromineer, where her beautiful bright studio is located in the rolling fields beside the shores of Lough Derg. This is often the inspiration for Judy’s textural and atmospheric landscapes. Judy also completes yearly residencies in the Ballinglen Arts Foundations studios in Mayo.
Judy has exhibited in private and group shows in Ireland and the USA. Her work also can be seen in many private and corporate collections throughout Ireland, Europe and USA. Judy has won many awards for her abstract paintings.
If you are interested in Judy’s work she can be contacted on judyshamilton@gmail.com and her paintings are available for viewing in her Dromineer studio.
Mary Pickering was born in Dublin and moved to Cloughjordan 10 years ago. Her technique and style is personal; she uses colour and shape to create a sense of movement, which is a hallmark of many of her works.
Mary's paintings are usually busy with people and full of movement. She blends traditional subjects and modern, vibrant colours.
Philip Ryan has been painting full time for over 15 years, having been represented by several galleries in Dublin as well as selling at various auctions around Ireland. His work is in the collections of John Paul Getty III, the Office of Public Works, Tipperary County Council, and collections in the USA and London. He has also had one-man shows in Dublin, Limerick and Nenagh, and he has been artist in residence at Dromineer Literary Festival 2014.
