Her qualifications include a first class honours degree in Physiotherapy and a MSc in Sport and Exercise Medicine from Trinity College Dublin. She has recently returned from Perth, Australia after completing a prestigious post graduate program in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy at Curtin University. Here Niamh worked with world renowned leading clinical specialists - learning the most up to date physiotherapy techniques, placing her at the very top of her field.

After recently returning to her native North Tipperary, Niamh has now established a two-pronged Nenagh clinic focusing on Physiotherapy and Yoga & Pilates classes and aims to accommodate the growing demand for specialist chartered physiotherapy in Co. Tipperary.

Yoga & Pilates

Featuring a spacious, tastefully decorated, state-of-the-art studio, Physiofit offers yoga and Pilates classes in a serene, calming environment.

“I love coming to work in such a beautiful, calming environment”, Niamh says of her studio.

She defines yoga as “the union of mind and body” and Pilates as a method of “improving spinal alignment and core stability”.

Niamh's journey of teaching Pilates began nine years ago with the Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute (APPI) based in London. She finds Pilates particularly beneficial to people who suffer with spinal pain. The benefits of Pilates are well-documented and Niamh uses them routinely with patients.

The North Tipperary physiotherapist travelled to India, to study Yoga at its source and here she immersed herself in a strict yogic lifestyle at a traditional ashram.  She learned asanas (exercises), pranayama (breathing techniques) and yogic philosophy. She gained an internationally recognised Yoga Teacher Training qualification that is accredited by the International Yoga Alliance. Niamh has just returned from home from a second stay in India, where she completed studies in Advanced Yoga Teacher Training.

“My philosophy is that a combination of yoga and Pilates works best,” Niamh says.

“I apply my physiotherapy background to modern Pilates methods, yogic philosophies and mindfulness/meditation to in order to restore physical and emotional wellbeing.

My unique method has curative and preventative benefits for the body. These include increased flexibility and muscle strength, increased energy levels and vitality, improved athletic performance, empowerment and improved body awareness and protection from injury and early degeneration”.

This successful combination saw her last year working with Tipperary’s senior hurlers and various club hurling teams in Tipperary and Limerick. Niamh also imparts her skills to equestrian athletes, given her own keen interest in show jumping.

Physiofit yoga and Pilates classes – for men and women – run morning, lunchtime and evening, Monday to Friday. Saturday classes will be starting soon.
