Drug driver collided with ditch

The driver of a vehicle that collided with a ditch near Newport tested positive for cannabis, Nenagh District Court heard.

Cillian Murphy drove at excessive speed on the wrong side of the road before the collision at Barna, Newport, on March 17 last, the court was told. Mr Murphy (20) with an address at Scanlon Park, Castleconnell, provided a blood sample to gardaí that tested positive for cannabis. He failed to produce driving documents.

Judge Marie Keane ordered a probation report and remanded Mr Murphy on continuing bail to November 26.
