‘Maid for This’ – advice on the wedding industry

After working in the industry for over a decade, Nenagh’s Aideen Cleary, a bridal make-up artist and Nenagh’s Sarah Morgan, a wedding hair stylist, decided to join forces to share their advice and expertise to couples preparing for their wedding day:

“There was so much inspiration out there for brides, but not a lot of information,” expressed Aideen, as to why they decided to create a podcast focused on the wedding industry.

“They were able to see all these fancy things and that, but they weren’t able to understand when they should be booking their venues, and when they should be booking their venders. We just said, let’s get the information out there,” she explained.

As expressed by Sarah, their knowledge of wedding mornings could help someone before their wedding day arrives.

“We do this every weekend. We’ve done weddings thousands of times. And we always say to brides, this is their first time doing it. We wanted to give them a bit more insight before their wedding day happens, and before all the build up to the wedding happens. We nearly just wanted to be that fountain of knowledge,” expressed Sarah.

‘Maid for this’ Podcast

Prior to the release of this podcast, both professionals only came to know one another through their work.

“Over the past ten years, both being from Nenagh, we ended up having to work on the same wedding mornings a lot. We were always told that we have great chemistry, that we really work so well together,” expressed Aideen.

“We take for granted what knowledge we have, and then when we are doing wedding mornings, giving clients so much information.

They are like oh my god, how do you know all of this? We wouldn’t have known this before today, and that’s why we decided we need to get this information out to brides, well before their wedding day,” expressed Aideen.

“We started out with a plan of only doing six episodes and then carrying on with a very busy bridal season,” she said, “We got such a positive reaction to it, we were like, we need to keep it going.”

“Its not just all about the bride…everything to do with the whole wedding industry.” she expressed, pointing out their intention to continue sharing advice on their podcast.

Wedding Day Advice

Speaking to the Nenagh Guardian, this podcast duo shared some of their tips for new brides on their wedding morning.

“Because it can be such a nerve-wracking part of the day, you really need to have suppliers around you that you can trust and ones that are going to care about you that morning,” shared Aideen.

“I nearly become your mothers’ favourite child,” chucked Sarah proudly, sharing how she has often completed extra tasks, such as loading the dishwasher, while working as a wedding hair stylist on the morning on a wedding.

However, the duo also warned for brides to also not expect their suppliers to complete jobs that are outside of their agreed role.

Reflecting on their experience of working in the industry, the pair also highlighted how there is no need to fret about things not going to plan.

“There are no real disasters. Everything is pretty much fixable,” stated Sarah.

“I was doing a wedding morning before, and the flowers didn’t show up,” she reflected. “The photographer and I went to Aldi. We bought white roses and greenery, and we put together those bouquets,” she shared triumphantly.

“Nobody knows except for you, if something has gone wrong,” she pointed out.

“At the end of the day, if you get married to that person that you are in love with. Isn’t that all that counts. Things will go wrong, but it’s how you react to them, is how it is going to impact your day,” summed up Aideen.
